The Ohio Public Employees Retirement System (OPERS) released the latest version of Annual Statement of Estimated Benefits for members. The current version is now available to view and print within your online account.
While it may seem like just another document, this statement is one of the most important tools you have for understanding your retirement readiness.
What your OPERS Statement Shows
Your annual statement provides a snapshot of your pension as of December 31, 2025, including:
- Your estimated monthly retirement benefit
- The percentage of your final average salary your pension may replace
- How your benefit changes based on different retirement dates.
- Projections for:
- Unreduced Retirement
- Reduced Retirement
- Delaying retirement for additional years
It’s one of the best tools available to evaluate when retiring makes the most sense, and how much income you may still need to supplement.
Tax Day is Approaching: Don’t Miss These Details
With Tax Day 2026 approaching, OPERS is also reminding members to review key tax items:
- 1099-R Forms are available for retirees receiving benefits
- You can update tax withholding elections through your OPERS account
- Pension income may impact your overall tax strategy in retirement
For retirees especially, this is a good time to make sure withholding aligns with your broader financial plan, so there are no surprises come April of next year.
Reminder
These updates are a reminder to:
- Revisit your retirement timeline
- Understand your after-tax income
- Coordinate your pension with the rest of your financial plan
If you’re an OPERS member and want help understanding how your pension and taxes fit into your overall retirement plan, contact Schuler Wealth Planning and we’d be happy to help.
